A little bit about me…

With over 15 years of experience working as a Hairdresser, Barber and Beauty Therapist I have always provided a safe space for my clients to speak about what’s on their minds.  Whether it was to celebrate news, overcome obstacles or to express dilemmas and hardships they may be going through.

I listened to them and stood by their sides.

When a few clients came to me with Mental Health issues, I signposted them to my Personal Therapist.  After noticing a positive change in their Mental Health, I realised I wanted to be a part of that change and help them on their journey.

I wanted to learn how to help people ethically and understand how to signpost them safely.  I just want the best for everyone.

After 4 years of training, I can do just that.

Instead of standing behind my client’s chair providing treatments, I now sit in front of them and go on their journey to a better life, with them. 

As a Person-Centred Counsellor I am not here to advise you on your situations, rather hold up a torch to show you the light in your darkness.  Together we can find answers and overcome obstacles.

When I am not counselling, I like to unwind by listening to music, walking in nature, watching Netflix and going to the gym.

 

Experience

I specialise in working with Abuse related Trauma.

As a survivor of abuse myself, I have experienced it’s long term effects on life/mental health/choices/behaviours.

I worked at The Haven Survivors of Abuse Network for 2 years and loved every single moment.  It was there that I realised this was the subject I took the most interest in.

I love helping my clients understand abuse and its effects on our mental health.  I find psychoeducation and using neuro-science to help clients understand and process their trauma, helps a great deal.

Although I specialise in abuse I am not limited to this topic.
